Unknown breed / mixed (long coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Small Lhasa Apso mix
Ben was rescued by a kind man who found him wandering the streets. He was taken to a veterinary clinic where it was deemed necessary to shave him down to his skin due to the terrible condition of his coat. He tried to bite the vet when she attempted to look in his mouth and she soon discovered that his teeth were in terrible condition. Ben's canines were completely filed down, we have never seen anything like it. After extensive dental work including the removal of 5 teeth, Ben is no longer touchy about his mouth. Ben is now in foster care with other dogs and cats. Ben does very well with other cats, but when another dog bumps into him he will turn to nip. Although he is living with other cats and dogs, we want to set him up for success without other animals. We do not know Ben's past, but we do know it was not good. Ben is very obedient, loving, smart, and a good natured guy who would find no pleasure greater than to lie in your lap and hang out with you. He is crate-trained and enjoys going in there on his own to take a short nap. It doesn't appear that he's had much in the way of toys, treats or other doggie paraphernalia in his lifetime, so it should be a great source of joy for his forever person to introduce those things to him. Though not extremely active, Ben is bright and inquisitive and would enjoy the sights and sounds of a walk each day. Ben's new owners must be experienced with the breed.
