History

Hello, my name is Phoebe I am a very sweet black border collie mix with white markings on my chest, chin and eye brows, some people think I look old because of my grey hair, but I am fooling them because I am young and active.
I love to be outside with my humans,
I love to go for walks and hikes and am working on my off leash trail skills,
I need exercise and would love to find an adventurous outdoorsy family.
I am house trained and love my dog bed, though I would be more than happy to sleep at the foot of your bed if you'd let me.
I tend to like women more than I like men, I think they are more trust worthy, I just need to warm up to a new man before I can trust him.
I have lasting impressions of people so the sweeter you are to me the friendlier I will be to you.
I am not an aggressive dog though my herding tendencies do come out and I might try to usher a stranger out by nudging his heels.
I am a pretty good guard dog and love to bark so that my foster mom knows, when the mail has come or the UPS man has made a delivery.

I have pretty good manners in the house,I stay in the kitchen most of the time and my foster mom is learning not to leave any food on the counters or the table, because I think it is for me and if she leaves the house,
I will help myself to a snack. I love her homemade cupcakes, yummmm....
I wish it wasn't so hot in Phoenix in the summer so I could go for a walk all day every day. I get bored when I don't get enough outdoors time, but I don't really like to be outside by myself for very long.
I love riding in the car, and feel very lucky when my my foster parents let me go to Lowes with them to shop for house stuff.
I LOVE squeaky toys, and I will sometimes bring you my toy and want you to throw it for me, I am getting pretty good at bring it back, but I have so much fun squeaking it that I sometimes get distracted.
I am also protective of my toys, I get along nicely with other dogs as long as there aren't toys around, I can be possessive.
I have never lived with kitties, but I do know that I am very curious about them when I see them in the park. They look like they would be very fun to chase and my ears perk up every time I hear the word kitty. I am not a bully though, so my best guess is, I would warm up to them if I lived with them.

My foster mom has convinced me that swimming in the pool is a good way to cool off in the summer, so despite my reluctance, I will go swimming with her when she asks me to. What I like even better is crossing streams when we are on hikes up north.
Did I mention I love being active, I behave better when I have been well exercised and tasked, and I like a firm leader.

I am good with kids, I like them even, but I am a herding dog and sometimes I really just get the urge to herd them, especially if the are moving fast and in a group. So it might be better that I go to a home with bigger kids.

I love my humans, and I get upset if they are upset with me. I want to sit on my foster mom's lap a lot, even though she says I am too big.
I really need a family to love me and run and play with me.
I love hugs, and will give them too you every time you come home.
I know basic commands and would like to learn more if you are willing to teach me.
My foster mom says I am cute and I tend to agree, would you like to meet me??

Phoebe was turned over to Paw Placement because of her owners illness, which made it impossible to give her the proper exercise she needs and deserves.
She is an indoor dog but loves trips to places where she can run and play, and learning new things. Phoebe does well with praise and clicker training.
She is smart and a fast learner and would enjoy a family that would love training as much as she does. Phoebe is looking for a home that can give her the exercise, leadership, and love that she deserves. In return she will be unfaltering loyal and unconditionally loving.
